Wedding: Tony & Allison | Maderas Golf Club in Poway, CA | Analisa Joy Photography | Upland, CA Photographer

In seven years of photographing weddings, I have yet to photograph one in the rain. A week prior to Tony and Allison’s wedding day, we experienced a streak of sunny and 75 degree weather. I received a phone call from Allison a few days out and she was getting nervous because the weather report changed showing a 20% chance of rain on their wedding day. I told her there was nothing to worry about and even if it did rain, it was rare for it to last all day in San Diego. Each day the weather report increased the chances of rain and the day prior, I told them that they might want to consider buying some rain props. Allison has a type A personality and is super organized. She has been effortless to work with because she has had every detail planned to perfection without any hiccups. However, weather was the only thing she couldn’t control and the thought of it raining on her outdoor wedding was her worst planning fear.

The wedding day arrived and we were greeted with dark clouds. During the getting ready section, the rain began to pour… hard! Allison seemed defeated not knowing how to get around the rainy forecast. That is when we had our locker room pump up speech. We discussed taking pictures inside and limiting ourselves to a small variety of photos so that she would remain dry OR we embrace the day for what it is and dance in the rain! Well, Allison truly did dance, laugh, kiss, hug, and play in the rain and it was AWESOME! I tried holding an umbrella while taking pictures, but it was pouring so hard, I just tossed it aside and stood in the downpour. We were soaked head to toe, but we didn’t care because the pictures were so amazing… Some of my all time favorites EVER! Tony and Allison could have let this damper their day, but they had the best attitudes and enjoyed every second of their wedding day. She didn’t whine about her hair, makeup, or her dress… she just picked up the train while Tony held the umbrella and took full advantage of her gorgeous venue. The vendors did show up to the ceremony looking like they jumped in a lake, but we all had the best time capturing the sweetest couple! Shout out to Blue Tiger Films who were such amazing videographers. We worked so great together! It will be one of my most memorable wedding days. I’m so happy for my new friends and I can’t wait to see what luck falls upon their marriage… because rain on your wedding day is lucky! Congrats Tony and Allison!

They tied the knot at Maderas Golf Club in Poway, CA! My new favorite golf course venue!

Love this shot of Tony!

MY FAVORITE! Such a great group of guys!

First look!

That umbrella makes these portraits magical!

I’M OBSESSED!

Who looks this good after being in the rain all afternoon?!

We would take the umbrella away for a few shots and then throw it back in to make sure she didn’t get soaked.

Veil shots… always my fave!

In love with these florals by Rhapsody in Bloom!

How gorgeous is this ceremony arch? Her florists stood in the downpour creating this!

I love when both sets of parents are still together.
Such a rare thing, but they are lucky to be surrounded by great examples of love!

First sip as husband and wife!

In love with all the gold/blush details!

Gorgeous cake by Cute Cakes!

Tony is obsessed with the Giants so Allison surprised him with his own customized cake!

Such a great dance floor! It was never empty!

I loved the look on his face! He was so excited!

This was by far my favorite grand exit ever. Again, it was a moment when plan B turned out to be the better outcome. They originally planned for all the guests to line up outside and throw confetti on them. However, the rain was still pouring and they didn’t think they would be able to get that many people to stand outside and line up! Their AMAZING DJ (Still Listening Productions) improvised and made all the guests stand in a circle. He then covered the song, “Ho, Hey” by the Lumineers and sang the best last dance song. The guests joined in and they had all their loved ones singing to them and it was so special! An all time favorite wedding moment for me.

But we still went outside with them and threw confetti! Congrats Tony and Allison!
