Back in 2010, I attended a workshop in Texas called, Love Affair. The ladies who hosted the workshop were some of my all time favorite photographers. I was very new in the photography world, but they announced that this was going to be their last workshop so I had to go! Classes were taught by, Kelly Moore, Lauren Clark, Millie Holloman, and Davina Fear who are all amazingly creative and talented in this industry. We stayed at the W Hotel in Dallas where we were immersed in photography knowledge. I was the youngest in the workshop and I attended with only a Canon Rebel, a 50mm 1.4 lens, and I was editing my images in iPhoto. I remember being in the photoshop class and hearing terms such as layers, burning, and actions and having no clue what they were talking about. However, these women (along with the other attendees) taught me how to shoot in various lighting conditions, run a business, and maintain a well rounded lifestyle. I even won 2nd place in the overall portfolio contest that took place at the end of the workshop. I always encourage photographers to research and attend workshops because Love Affair is what lit my spark to pursue my passion in photography. I remember being in a room filled with successful photographers and hoping that I was going to be like them one day.

Amongst the women in our workshop was a photographer named Gloria. She was very sweet to me and we have been Facebook friends ever since. Fast forward four years, Gloria recently came to San Diego for the holidays and she contacted me to photograph her family. I felt honored and I couldn’t have asked for a better group to spend the afternoon with. I loved their energy and the fun that they shared when they were together. I’m so thankful that I attended Love Affair and for the all friendships that formed because of it. Enjoy!
